Care Instructions for Natural Wood Products

Caring for your wooden cutting board

Your cutting board will last for a long time with proper cleaning and care.  Follow these simple instructions to ensure your board remains beautiful and in great condition.

  1. Wash all sides with a warm soapy cloth. Do not soak in water or place in a dishwasher. Rinse with clean warm water. Dry with a soft cloth. Stand on end overnight to dry.
  2. To deodorize and sanitize, lightly sprinkle the surfaces with salt. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze some juice out onto the board. Add some baking soda for those areas with really tough stains. Use the cut side as a scrubber to ensure the board has been covered in the salt/juice mixture. Let it sit for several minutes. Wash and dry as above. Immediately follow step 3 & 4.
  3. Monthly, coat the entire board with a light coating of mineral oil. Let it soak for several hours, then wipe off with a dry soft cloth.
  4. Periodically, use a small amount of Wood Beeswax, and using your hands, rub it into all the surfaces of the board. Let it sit for several hours to allow the oil to soak in. Buff with a clean dry cloth.
  5. Don’t leave the board with standing water on it.
  6. Don’t submerge board in water.
  7. Don’t put in dishwasher.
  8. Don’t place in microwave oven or broiler.
  9. Don’t use edible oils for board treatment.
  10. Do rub all surfaces with board butter monthly (Bees wax & mineral order)
  11. Do wash board with a damp cloth & mild soap if needed.
  12. Do dry the board, standing up on an edge, where air can get to all sides.
